Fitness Test?!

I was not able to go to the mandatory staff meeting on Sunday and now need to meet with my supervisor after work today. The asian lifeguard told me yesterday that we are now required to perform a fitness test: we have to swim a 500. Not too bad, huh?
Here's the kicker though... I can't breath when I swim. :O After working out with my trainer my aerobic capacity has increased dramatically. But I still can't breath when I swim. Although I realized it is a different kind of not being able to breath rather than asthma.
I don't have all the particulars about the test, but I will in a few hours. I will update you then.

"Warning! Hazardous Chemicals!"

I had to go into the basement of the Y yesterday in order to turn off the vacuum pump to the pool (which one of the guards had left on and thus caused the pool to drain). Well, I was barefoot having come straight from the pool deck. I walked into the pump room that had a sign that said, "Warning! Hazardous Chemicals!" Now the soles of my feet are peeling. What on earth did I walk on? Maybe I should invest in a cheap pair of sandals to keep on deck. T.T Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.. ;)

"The pool is closed." "Aww, man!"

I walked into the pool this morning and thought something looked a bit odd. I didn't place what it was until I went to unlock the locker rooms. The water was way too low! The pool drained at least 8 inches of water overnight. :O

Morning Musings: Day 2

This was something I was pondering this morning while on stand. (Okay, you caught me. This was actually from last Thursday when I actually was working in the morning. :P)

Placing God first should not be an exclusive mentality. It is not "God is first and you are second." Placing God first should be an inclusive mentality. It should be "God is my all and my everything. Through Him I can love others." All of your relationships should follow the latter mentality, especially any dating relationships. Because of the saving grace of Jesus christ, our Savior and Lord, we can more truly and selflessly love others. I am not saying our love is pure, but when you place God IN your relationship (and make Him the focus of your relaitonship) your love for one another will be deeper and more pure than if your relationship's focus was on the other person. Humans are selfish and sinful - a relationship based on another human WILL ultimately be a selfish and sinful relationship.

Morning Musings: Day 1

I wrote this this morning while I was at work. Have a look-see:

I was asked yesterday if I miss UW-L. The answer is...yes. Yes, I miss all my friends, the cold, teh beauty, thhe independence. Then I was asked if I wish I was still at UW-L. The answer is...no. My life has changed so much in the past year that I know I no longer need the UW-L atmosphere. God has prepared me for so many things that being at UW-L would be like Neverland - I would "never grow up" spiritually which would lead me to not grow up mentally, either. Although I did not underfstand the changes God brought to my life last year, looking back I am so glad He made those changes! I have grown closer to my family, met some amazing people, and growin in spirit, mind, and maturity. I have begun living a healthy lifestyle - something I NEVER would have done (or have been able to do) in Wisconsin. God is so AMAZING!!

Although I cannot see what God is preparing me for or where He will send me, I know I will one day look back (maybe in a year, maybe in 10) and know He prepared me well. God's love is what gave me life - I will follow and obey Him with all my heart, even when I am hurting, lost, and confused. He has awesome plans for me and I can only wait and pray to find out what they are!

My prayer today is that you will wait on the Lord. His timing is so very different from ours. When we think "soon" we think "within a week" or " a couple of hours". When God thinjks "soon" he could maen "in a couple of day" or even "in a couple hundred years". He is the Creator of time itself - time is relative to Him. Turst in Him - that He will provide for you. Rest in Him - knowing that He provides, relax and be comforted that you are provided for. Wait on the Lord, for following Him brings delight and joy like you will never find on earth. Dearest reader, christ loves you. Please be at peace.

Here is one of my favorite songs. I pray it impacts you as much as it does me. Click >>here<<.

Ever your sister in Christ,
Xiao Ke Ai
